OUR FAVORITE WALKS

Honfleur is a medieval town that can be discovered on foot. You can stroll around, hand in hand or your dog pulling you. There is always an improvised bench of old stones to sit on, or a secret door to push.

THE GARDEN OF PERSONALITIES

Where can you meet Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Erik Satie, Alphonse Allais, Charles Baudelaire, Françoise Sagan and Michel Serrault ? In the garden of personalities of course. Located on a siltation of the estuary, this 10-hectare landscaped area offers a walk to discover the garden boats in the center of which stand the busts of the actors of Honfleur's historical and cultural heritage. Just a ten-minute walk from the Vieux-Bassin, you should open a very nice interlude by the promenade along the Morelle and close by the Butin beach on sunny days. Every year at the end of June, a Musical Picnic takes place with animations proposed by the Erik Satie Music School . Walk of La Jetée . From 8:00 am to 9:00 pm in season (7:00 pm out of season).

WHERE TO HAVE FUN IN HONFLEUR?

Honfleur is a town of old stones and a Vieux-Bassin. It is also one of the towns in Calvados where there is always something going on. You can discover the new show of a young artist as well as stroll among the butterflies.

THE SALT GRANARIES OF HONFLEUR

Three salt granaries were built in 1670 to store salt for the gabelle, mostly with stones from the old city walls. They were used to store salt for the cod fishery on the banks of Newfoundland. One of the granaries burned down in 1892 and only two of the three granaries have been preserved. Today, the Salt Loft has become obligatory for young artists who come to perform during the Estuaire d'en rire (postponed this year because of the covid-19). In November, the Honfleur Russian Film Festival is a counterpoint to the Deauville American Film Festival.

THE TROPICAL NATUROSPACE

One of the favorite walks of our children and grandchildren. Le Naturospace, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019, is a bit old-fashioned, and that is all that makes it so charming. It's a walk among the butterflies and exotic birds that flutter freely around you in a tropical atmosphere. With the sanitary measures, there are less people and therefore more space to enjoy it. In addition, the air is renewed every hour so that human germs do not bother the animals. Well done. We like to go there when the weather is not nice enough to visit the garden of personalities. It's on the road and parking is easy and free.

THE BUTIN BEACH

We do not know it, but Honfleur is a Seaside resort. Located at the entrance of Honfleur from the coast road, the Butin beach has all the facilities to welcome you comfortably and safely during the summer season: free parking, showers, cabins, equipment rental, and a playground for children. From April to October, the beach also has a restaurant and inflatable playgrounds. The excellent results of the bathing water analyses carried out regularly by the health services have earned this estuary beach a category A rating. Our advice is to continue on foot to the beach of Vasouy located in the extension.
